California Center for Innovative Transportation

The California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT) is a research organization at the University of California, Berkeley Institute of Transportation Studies. CCIT's mission is to deploy the most current transportation research through partnerships with public organizations such as Caltrans, as well as private organizations whose products or services serve the transportation sector.

Successfully deployed projects include:

CCIT was formed in 2001 as a group within California Partners for Advanced Transit and Highways (PATH), another UC Berkeley transportation research center; in 2003 they became an independent center, with a focus on accelerating the implementation of research findings and technical solutions that improve the safety and efficiency of California's surface transportation.

CCIT was formed by Hamed Benouar, a former Caltrans executive who is also a former California State Chief Traffic Engineer. The current CCIT Director is Thomas West, also a former Caltrans executive.

CCIT offices are located in an historic building, Masonic Temple (Berkeley, California) at 2105 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA.
